about

Shortly after recording their first full length album MMR relocated to Brooklyn at the same time aliens abducted original singer Brett Lyman and left him in Detroit. This required the band to rework the songs with new singer/possible alien infiltrator Chuck Bettis.

Without any funds to rent studio time it looked like the album might never happen. Thankfully Le Tigre and the Beastie Boys went out on tours at the same time leaving Kathleen and Adam's cats in need of food and cuddles. They were also kind enough to let MMR use their house and computer to finish tracking and mixing Fantastic Success. Kathleen also offered up the use of Adam's 808 drum machine as long the patterns that were used on an LL Cool J song were left intact. Having no interest in accidentally erasing part of hip-hop history the band left the legendary drum machine on the shelf untouched because who wants to be THAT guy, amirite?

Originally released on Doubling Cube records.
